Research storage#
The servers and desktops have access to the DS Research Storage system. It’s the preferred place for big data sets
- Data is available not only from your desktop, but from any server
- You can share data easily
- Your home profile will not overloaded
- Research volumes back up daily.
To get personal folder for storing large data sets ask the Computing Systems Administrator or log request to DS
Restore data from daily backup#
If you have lost any data, please call DS and provide full path to the missing files/folders.
NFS shares are located at vuwstocoisnrin1.vuw.ac.nz, i.e. real path for /Volumes/GeoPhysics_01/
will be vuwstocoisnrin1.vuw.ac.nz:/GeoPhysics_01
Local storage#
Local and external drives are not backed up. It’s up to user how to keep their own data safe and consistent.
Linux users profile directories#
Home profiles are backed up daily. If you have lost any data in your Linux home directory, please ask SGEES System Administrator and provide full path to the missing files/folders.
Note the Linux profiles have disk quota limits:
